New legislation about protecting private data came into force on 25th May 2018 which affects every organization, including the Friends of the Monteath Mausoleum. In order to comply with the legislation, we are providing the following information for members and website users:
* As stated on the Membership Application Form, we do not share your private information with anyone, ever, except as may be required by Scottish law. We assume your consent to us holding your data for the purpose of servicing your membership, and for a period of up to 12 months after membership ceases for accounting and statistical purposes.
* We do not collect website data or insert cookies into your browser, although our website host may do so. We have no control over this and do not benefit from it.
* You may request a copy of the data we hold about you by applying to our email address, or by post. For security reasons we will only send such information to the email or postal address on our database.
* The database is password protected and is only available to officers of the Friends using specific computers, which are similarly password protected. A secure backup is held “in the cloud” which may be on computer servers located outside of the European Union.
* We also hold data on people and organizations necessary for the fulfillment of our legitimate interest (i.e. restoration and upkeep of the Monteath Mausoleum) which we do not share without their specific consent, unless the data is in the public domain and freely available.
* Our nominated Data Protection Officer is David Freeman. Anyone objecting to us holding data about them, or who wishes to enquire about the data we may hold should contact David at friends@friendsofthemonteathmausoleum.org.uk
