Getting to Monteath Mausoleum on Open Days

From the North, the mausoleum is 42 miles from Edinburgh on the A68. After passing through St. Boswells continue south on the A68 for about two miles. As you climb a long hill, the Mausoleum will be visible on the skyline to the right. Continue over the hill top for a further half mile until you see a lay-by on the left, near signs for Lilliardsedge Holiday Park on the right. At the lay-by turn around when it is safe to do so, and head back up the hill. About fifty yards before the top of the hill follow the signposted farm track on the left into the woodland. The mausoleum is a five minute drive along the track. Under no circumstances should you attempt to turn right directly off the A68 on to the farm track.

From the South, the mausoleum is 62 miles from Newcastle on Tyne on the A68. After passing through Jedburgh continue for about four miles until you see the signs for Lilliardsedge Holiday Park on the left. Continue up the hill and about fifty yards before the top follow the signposted farm track on the left into the woodland. The mausoleum is a five minute drive along the track.

When leaving, no matter what your destination, you must turn left onto the A68.

After 2.5 miles there is a wide road to Charlesfield Industrial Estate on the left just before St. Boswells, where it is safe to turn if necessary.
